I hope someone can offer insight and suggestions. The "missing" with the carb off the 350 is only noticeable under hard acceleration. It's almost like a hiccup. It will sputter, then regain acceleration. Under normal driving conditions (not using secondaries) it will run like a charm.Sep 12, 2012 · Choose 2 distributor cap towers you want to test. Disconnect their spark plug wires. Silverado Pinging Acceleration I got a 99 tahoe 5.7 vortec with multiple misfires under load/accelerating. So far Ive replaced; plugs, wires, cap n rotor, coil, egr valve, fuel filter, o2 sensors. Tested; vacuum, fuel pressure, OBD 2 scan. All in which came back ok/no codes. It runs great with the new wires and stuff, but still chugs and sputters when I accelerate or under load!

If I hit the gas harder, it won't do it. But if I try to accelerate gently, it will jerk / shudder. Happens from about 1000 rpm (my normal idle) up through about 2000 rpm. Today you can still net yourself a decent one for under $5,000, but chances are it needs some help. One of the most common problems is likely a rough running or poorly idling engine. Initial timing is 10-12 Deg Full(total) timing is 22 deg I don't think the Vacum adv is working (New vac mod) Idle is set at about 600-650 RPM ( Guessing!! no tach) Any thought Oh yeh it will fire through the carb. Somtimes when you stomp the pedal in park and want to die. The engine starts nicely, and idles around 700-800 RPM, which I think is normal. But when you accelerate past 1000 RPM the engine "bogs" down and sputters, and sometimes backfires under the hood. Once it hits approx 2000 RPM (this talkes a little while, maybe 10-15 seconds) it smooths out and runs very well.

      Usually the P0420 and P0430 are not something that would cause a running condition or vibration. Just an efficiency issue. If the engine seems to bog down under load that would be an indication of a restricted exhaust. An exhaust back-pressure test can be done to see if the exhaust is restricted.
